The inlaid bumble bee is on it's ponderous flight in search of the flowers. I have always been struck that the backs of chairs and seating are never decorated and often bland compared to the fronts. When chairs and benches are round a table they are approached from behind so it seems natural that a bit of decoration would not go amiss. It does not require much and a light touch can make a huge difference.

The inlaid parquetry was designed and hand made by me. It consists of English walnut, sycamore and mahogany banding. All the decoration displays long grain, so making it is quite time consuming, involving several steps to eventually get strips around 3/32nds of an inch thick (about 2.5mm). All the joints are secured with ebony pegs.

Inlay of printed circuit board and ivory (reclaimed).
