Date of birth: 31st May 1958: Hawick, Scotland
Training: self taught
Became a full-time maker in May 1989
Taught part-time at Edinburgh College of Art, Department of Applied Art (Furniture Design) 1994-6
Elected a professional member of the Scottish Artists and Artist Craftsmen (SAAC) in 1996
Elected a council member of the SAAC in 1998
Exhibit regularly in the UK
Worked on private and public commissions in the UK and abroad

I produce a wide range of work in wood and other materials. I can work on a large or small scale. Most of my work is privately commissioned and I enjoy working closely with clients to develop their ideas. I am asked predominantly to make furniture and can also incorporate the following skills into commissions:

Carving
Turning
Inlay
Lettering
Gilding

However, I do not regard myself exclusively as a cabinet maker. I also produce:

Sculpture, both abstract and representational
Text and word prints
Mosaic

I am interested in using reclaimed and found materials, where appropriate, in my work.
